What makes a good pitch

Bring a focused question, a clear reason it matters to curious readers and a sense of the context needed to handle it well. We especially welcome ideas that make room for more than one perspective without flattening cultural differences. A pitch should say what the story would explain, compare or trace.

A useful starting point

Tell us the proposed subject, the main idea, the kind of piece you have in mind and any relevant experience or sources you would bring to it. You do not need to send a finished article with your first message. Avoid pitches built on unsupported product promises or claims that one beauty ideal suits everyone.
